Baby Product Review: Bouncy Seat

“This bouncy seat is good.” – Me

Ingenuity InLighten Twinkle Tails Vibrating Infant Baby Bouncer with Lightning Toy Bar and Pillow

This is a product review for a baby bouncy seat that has worked out well for us. I’m not getting paid for this review, but I still want to share my opinion on this and maybe it will be helpful for somebody out there.

The bouncy seat we have is available at Wal-Mart and Amazon (probably other retailers too), for a frankly outrageous price, which of course varies depending on your browsing history and whatever the heck else.

But, we found ours on Craigslist.

Yay! Features

βœ… Feels sturdy

βœ… Adjustable seat (so baby can sit up more as he/she gets older)

βœ… Has music and lights feature

βœ… Cover is washable!!!

βœ… Has a little harness (I’m blanking on what these are called), so the baby can be strapped in. This is becoming more important for us as our daughter is growing and now attempting to wiggle herself out of the seat.

βœ…Lightweight. We take it to restaurants, the beach, wherever, and it’s not too cumbersome.

βœ… Cute little hanging toys. As our daughter is getting older, she is getting more interested in these.

Meh! Features

❌ The bunny β€œpillow” is cute, but ultimately not really useful and I don’t know what to do with it. In theory, I guess it could catch spills and be washed without having to wash the whole cover, but it doesn’t secure to anything and flops around.

Note: I used my daughter’s toy bunny in some of these pictures, which I now realize is going to be confusing for this meh! feature. The bunny “pillow” I’m talking about can be seen in the product pictures available online at Wal-Mart or Amazon.

❌ The little canopy comes off easily, so most of the time we just leave it off. It would also be great if the canopy was wider, so that it would be more useful in the sun.

❌ Every time I wash the cover, the tag with warnings and care instructions fades a little more. This is minor, but kind of annoying since any third or fourth hand users might want that info.

PSA for pet parents: cats and puppies LOVE this seat. I don’t know what you want to do with that information, but if I knew that before I had a baby, maybe I would have gotten a bouncy seat for my cats instead of a useless pet bed. πŸ˜‚

My kitty baby Max will model chilling in the chair for you, since I don’t want to include pictures of my baby girl’s face online.

Get your roar on! A dino-rific baby book club

Today’s baby book club read is another gem found at a library book sale. Dinosaur Dance! is a very unassuming little board book by Sandra Boynton.

I was not expecting much, to be honest, but was happily surprised that the book has a pretty great rhythm overall, with only one or two places where I thought “huh?”.

The illustrations also did not look particularly appealing, but they turned out to be pretty cute after all. Just look at this grumpy little T-Rex face.

I like reading this book to my daughter because it is short and the rhythm of the lines catches her attention, especially if I give it a little extra oompf while I’m reading.

I also think that it will hold up well into the toddler years since it includes real dino names, as opposed to just describing them by size or color.

Baby Book Club: A Sweet Little Tale Called No Matter What

I’m excited for today’s baby book club.

No Matter What by Debi Gliori has quickly become my favorite book to read with my daughter.

The illustrations are charming and packed with adorable details, and the story is timeless and well-written. The book features a message about unconditional love that feels real and honest, without being sugary.

I also like that the message includes a little lesson (though this book does not feel like a “lesson” book) on mending relationships.

Finally, the writing itself is charming.

I particularly like the line “I’m grim and grumpy,” said Small, “and I don’t think you love me at all.” If I remember, Small has a bucket on his head while he says this, and I guess that just speaks to my inner child.

My daughter is not totally into this book, not as much as I am, but I still look forward to reading it to her for many years. I think it’s possible that the colors of the illustrations are a bit too muted for her little eyes at this stage in her development.

I picked this book up by chance at a thrift store, which is a great reminder that sometimes the best things come into your life in unexpected ways.

I highly recommend this book.

Baby Book Club: Hello, Bedtime

Today’s baby book club book is Hello Bedtime with art by Jannie Ho, and it’s another good option for a black and white baby board book. This is definitely high contrast, and I think interesting for baby to look at.

Personally, I don’t really care for the illustrations, but that’s just a matter of taste.

I still like the baby animals book better, just because they are cuter. Take a look here.

Baby Book Club: Baby Animals Black & White

It’s time for my first baby book club!

Of the two black and white baby board books that I purchased for my daughter, this is the book that I like the best.

Baby Animals Black and White by Phyllis Limbacher Tildes has attractive big pictures (except the kind of scary picture on the last page), it’s cute, and it does capture Ellie’s attention, more or less.

Would I recommend this book to a new parent reading all about how brand new babies need high contrast books and toys?

Well, need is debatable, but try telling that to my past pregnant self. This book did not revolutionize our experience. Shocking, I know. But yes, I would recommend it. It’s cute and moderately interesting to our baby girl.
